We’re delighted to announce Time and Tradition Folk Weekend at Kings Place, London 16-18 March 2018.
As part of the venue’s Time Unwrapped season, ABM presents a weekend series of concerts, storytelling and talks exploring the concept of time through traditional and contemporary folk music and ritual and seasonal customs. Folk song – music of the people – is an essential document of social change, reflecting moments in time, continuity and evolution through the generations via its oral transmission. In contemporary forms, it is also often a powerful tool for social justice.
Time & Tradition sees Martin & Eliza Carthy headline a Generations Concert whilst Chris Wood, acutely aware of the ‘anon’ folk canon sources that went before, offers his unique bird’s eye filter on modern society. Peggy Seeger and Roy Bailey head up a concert exploring social history down the years through the filter of song.
Daytime events include an array of mixed media events, from illustrated talks to storytelling, as well as showcasing several outstanding new traditional music performers.
