BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards & 2017 Tour News

Congratulations to all those nominated for the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards, and in particular to ABM winners, including the ever-wonderful Norma Waterson for her Lifetime Achievement Award.

With a well-deserved third Folk Musician Of The Year award, diatonic accordion wizard Andy Cutting will be touring solo in June 2017. Andy’s solo dates never hang around for long so get in touch asap to avoid disappointment. Fresh from their Best Group nomination, Leveret (Andy’s trio with Sam Sweeney (Bellowhead) & Rob Harbron) have a handful of 2016 dates still available (3rd, 5th, 9th and 13th Sept) and will then be touring from 3rd – 19th March and 5th – 21st Oct 2017.

The mighty Lynched from Dublin put on an amazing live show at the Royal Albert Hall with their bold version of Sergeant William Bailey. Nominated three times for Best Album, Best Group and Horizon Awards, the Dublin folk miscreants will continue to cause a stir in 2016 and 2017. They return for tours this autumn and we’re now taking bookings for April/May and Sept/Oct 2017 tour periods.

Nominated for Folk Singer Of The Year, beguiling songstress and songwriter Emily Portman will be on tour with her full Coracle Band from 1st – 11th December 2016 and with the trio from 18th – 24th April 2017.

Nominated for Best Traditional Track, the four-strong Furrow Collective have October dates (some remaining in 2016) as well as going on the road from 16th – 22nd Feb and from 26th – 30th Apr. Singer/harpist Rachel Newton has solo dates in early April, and with her trio with Lauren MacColl and Mattie Foulds from 1st – 11th June 2017. Alasdair Robert’s new album will be out on Drag City records in February 2017 – accompanied by a trio tour with Stevie Jones and Alex Neilson.
