New Furrow Collective Single & Tour

The new digital single from The Furrow Collective ‘Wild Hog in the Woods’ was released on 11th March. Wild Hog features two traditional songs from their forthcoming second album, which they are currently putting finishing touches to. This double A side release will coincide with a UK-wide tour.

Featuring special guests Alex Neilson of The Trembling Bells (drums) and Stevie Jones (double bass), ‘Wild Hog in the Woods’ is a sprightly North American version of the ballad of ‘Sir Lionel’ (Child 18) that Alasdair Roberts learnt from a recording of the Virginia singer Eunice Yeatts McAlexander. ‘Many’s the Night’s Rest’ is a bitter-sweet harmony-rich folk song from the deep South Downs of Sussex, that Emily found in folk-song collector Lucy Broadwood’s notebooks, sung by Henry Hill in 1901.

Wild Hog in the Woods will be released hot on the heels of the bands BBC Folk nomination for Best Traditional Track. ‘Unquiet Grave’ is led by Rachel Newton and is from their latest EP Blow Out the Moon.
