BIO
A special collaborative tour in Autumn 2027, as one of the UK folk scene’s most distinctive duos come together for a special collaborative tour, as Sam Sweeney & Grace Smith join forces with Patsy Reid & Alice Allen (The Strathspey Queens) to present an evening of music drawn from their respective traditions.
Sam Sweeney & Grace Smith are celebrated for their symbiotic musical partnership, united in exploring the potential of the English fiddle tradition and expanding its boundaries. Their performances are often described as “intimate, spacious and quietly electrifying”.
Patsy Reid & Alice Allen bring their own unmistakable energy to the stage, combining rich fiddle traditions with rhythmic drive and expressive interplay. Praised for “their fearless musicianship and natural rapport”, their playing blends groove, invention and deep respect of the Scottish tradition on fiddle and cello.
Across the tour, each duo will perform their own sets, alongside collaborative moments that bring all four musicians together. These shared performances explore commonalities and contrasts in English and Scottish traditional music through dazzling musicianship and dialogue.
This is music that honours tradition without being bound by it. Four musicians with distinct voices, meeting in a spirit of curiosity and generosity.
Audiences can expect an evening that is thoughtful, dynamic, and deeply human — a rare opportunity to hear these four remarkable folk string players making music together.
